I’ve always been a foodie and always will be.

I love all sorts of food…Japanese and Korean being my favourites.

But recently I have been having cravings for burgers and I do not know why. had this huge fight with herself because of a burger. Well, I was having one of my usual cravings as usual and wanted one of those Botak Jones burger lah…but she ordered the wrong one. Oh well, I had to make do with it and push it down my throat but it din turn out as bad. The chicken which I expected to be dry turned out to juicy and delicious! Wouldn’t mind having those again but me - I’m a carnivore and I LOVE my beef!! Heh… *peace*

Looks yummy? It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. MUST TRY if you’re are not a beef lover. The sauce and cheese melted together just makes it so awesome-licious!

Morton’s of Chicago - USDA Prime Burger

* This wasn’t what it looked like when I first had a glimpse of it in the October’s issue of Time-out Singapore. It looked way way more dis**sting than this proper plate of yummy-licious burger. But I would definitely wanna try this out someday…mmmm! :D

Smaller version of what the Botak Jones burger look like…pity they dun have the image on their website which was lagging by the way (or is it my connection?) Nevertheless, I would update this page again if I can get some pics of their massive burgers aite?

My faves: Japanese/Korean

One of my fave Japanese restaurant - Restaurant Chako.

Located at Hong Leong Shopping Centre around West Coast, this has the best Japanese food….authentic and home-cooked in SIngapore. It’s owned by a friend of herself, her mom runs the restaurant herself…kinda like a family business. And only through reservations please…otherwise you can forget about having a quick dinner. Food is delicious and for me who is very adventurous when it comes to food, tried the tuna with grated yam and it was simply out of this world! I have never eaten this or actually dared not try this at any other Japanese restaurant simply ordered without even thinking on how it would look like. It would appear yucky and slimy to people who doesn’t even dare to eat this stuff. But the taste is undescribable. Even herself was feeling nauseous looking at me eating…heh! :D I had grilled fish with salt as my main course and this was different of course from the usual saba fish sold in foodcourts. Herself had grilled salmon…which was very very good considering she hates to eat salmon.:D

Note: I had to save a draft while doing this post cos I got too hungry just looking at all the pictures and I went out, got myself a Mega Mac from Mcd! Satisfied!! :D

Now that I’m back….more to come but this time round, I am prepared. Stuffed myself with food first before I continue.

Oh and yes, though the wait for the food was almost 3 hours BUT everything was worth it…especially the dessert. I had matcha pudding with azuki (thats geen tea with red beans) which as awlays is such a lovely pairing. Herself had vanilla soy ice cream which was so gooooodddd (and I kinda regretted not having that but then again mine wasn’t so bad. Our bill came out to $80++ which was so affordable, though we wanted to order more but then again we wouldn’t want to trouble Mdm Chako herself who always comes out or shouts out from the kitchen whenever a guest leaves the restaurant which you can never get from other places.

And adding to my faves, Korean coming up next….

There is this place along Liang Seah Street - Arirang Korean Restaurant which serves Korean/Japanese BBQ along with other ala carte items on their menu, including lunch sets.

When I was there the other day for dinner, the place was packed full and we were told we needed to wait at least half an hour (but we waited a good 45 minutes to almost an hour before we got a seat but it’s all in the name of good food and you have to be willing to do so if you want to savour them).

How the thing works was - you place your order on the order chit and pass it to the waitress. As it was our first time in a Korean restaurant, we wanted to try everything considering that we were starving. Apart from the usual BIBIMBAP and the KIMCHI SOUP , I ordered the

SEAFOOD KOREAN PANCAKE

which was a tad too oily but nevertheless delicious. While I was barbecuing my meat and stuff I realized that we din have the usual lettuce to wrap our meat in. So I asked the sweet girl who served us (she was really nice and looked very young) for it lah but then she dropped a bombshell on me saying that it costs 4 bucks! OMG! Well, to satisfy my tastebuds, I ordered lah. Yum~! Totally satisfying! Plus the side dishes that was served, delicious and perfect! (of course that is not ME k? ‘__’ )

Must have for any Korean dinner…be it you’re just having noodles or their BBQ. And have i mentioned just HOW much I love kimchi?? This much ”_____________________________________________________________” yeap, that much. I lurve it to the core. And after tasting so many kimchis everywhere, foodcourts or restaurant version, you really can’t get good and authentic kimchi elsewhere except at Takashimaya. You know that place ( I forgot what they called it)…Food Market or something? Well, I was there with a friend looking for something light to eat while we waited for herself to have dinner. So we walked and walked…bought some yakitori and takos and I stumbled upon this Korean stall selling all kins of Korean pickles. The girl that was standing at the front of the shop literally shoved a pickled cucumber as I was drooling over the many choices of pickles. And I quickly put it on my mouth lah….mmmmmm, it was simply the best pickled cucumber ever! I could have sworn I wished I had a bowl of steaming hot rice in front of me at that point of time! Then of course, me being me, I asked to sample the traditional kimchi. Sigh, just thinking of it now makes my mouth water! Perfect! OMG!

I is say it is really very good. Was tempted to buy some for myself since you dun have to keep in the fridge, so sometimes when I get hungry in the middle of the night, smuggle a bowl of rice into my room and just have it with the kimchi! Yay!~ Happiness!! :D

Anyway, back to the restaurant…we couldn’t finish as we were too full probably due to the long wait. Well, had I been given time to smoke and digest part thereof, I could have eaten more but herself was restless and wanted to get out. :(

Well the bill came out to $52? Cheap? Hell yeah…considering the spread fit for a king!! I would definitely be back there soon again! :D
